The Connection Ends and Maintenance of the Forged Steel Valve

The Connection Ends and Maintenance of the Forged Steel Valve

Jul 20, 2021

Most of the forged steel valves have flange ends, and there are the following types according to the shape of the connecting surface: 1. Lubrication types: they are used for forged steel valves with low pressure, and the processing is convenient. 2. Concave-convex types: the operating pressure is high, and gaskets with medium hardness or good hardness can be used. 3. Tongue and groove types: gaskets with great plastic deformation can be used, which are widely used in corrosive media and have a better sealing effect. 4. Trapezoidal groove types: an oval metal ring is selected as a gasket, which is used for valves with operating pressure greater than or equal to 64 kg/cm² or high temperature valves. 5. Lens types: the gasket is in the shape of a lens and is made of metal. They are used for high-pressure valves with operating pressure greater than or equal to 100 kg/cm² or high-temperature valves. 6. O-ring types: this is a relatively new flange connection method. It is developed with the appearance of various rubber O-rings. It is a small connection method for sealing.

The maintenance of forged steel valves
1. Pay attention to the storage environment of forged steel valves. They should be stored in a dry and ventilated room and block both ends of the passage.
2. Regularly check forged steel valves, and the dirt on them should be removed; anti-rust oil should be applied on their appearance.
3. The forged steel valve which is installed should be repaired regularly to ensure its normal operation.
4. Check whether the sealing surface of the valve is worn or not, and repair or replace it according to the condition.
5. Check the wear condition of the trapezoidal thread of the valve stem and valve stem nut of the forged steel valve. Check whether or not the packing is working, and replace it if necessary.
6. Test the sealing performance of the valve to ensure its performance.
7. The valve in operation should be intact; the bolts on the flange and the bracket should be complete. The threads should not be damaged, and there should be no looseness.
8. If the handwheel is lost, it should be replaced in time and cannot be replaced by an adjustable wrench.
9. The packing gland is not allowed to be skewed or there is no pre-tightening gap.
10. If the valve is used in a harsh environment and is susceptible to rain, snow, dust, sand and other dirt, there should be a protective cover for the valve stem.
11. The ruler on the forged steel valve should be intact, accurate and clear, and the valve should be sealed and covered.
12. There should not be defects such as dents and cracks for forged steel valves.
13. Prevent hitting the forged steel valve or putting heavy objects on it when it is put into use.
