Socket-welded Forged Steel Gate Valves
Socket-welded Forged Steel Gate Valves

There are three designs for bonnets of forged steel gate valves, that is, bolted bonnets, welded bonnets and self-sealing bonnets. The valve body and the bonnet are connected with bolts and nuts and sealed by a spiral wound gasket made from 316 flexible graphite for bolted gate valves. Metal rings can also be used when special requirements are put forward by customers. The valve body and the valve bonnet are connected by screw threads, and are fully welded for welded forged gate valves. The valve body and the bonnet are connected by a screw thread and sealed by self-sealing.
The structure of socket-welded forged steel gate valves
Socket-welded forged steel gate valves are designed with a reduced bore. Compared with cast steel gate valves of the same diameter, the flow rate of forged gate valves is slightly smaller, but the pressure and temperature they withstand are higher than those of cast steel valves. The sealing performance of forged gate valves is also much better than that of cast steel gate valves, and the service life is longer. The direction of medium flow is unrestricted like other gate valves.
The features of socket-welded forged steel gate valves
1. Full bores or reduced bores
2. Rising stems with brackets
3. Self-aligning packing glands at both ends
4. Bolted bonnets with spiral wound gaskets, sealed by screw threads, welded bonnets, and self-sealing bonnets
5. Body inverted sealing
6. Socket welding ANSI or ASME B16.11
7 Threaded ends (NPI ends) according to ANSI or ASME B1.20.1

Installation and maintenance of socket-welded forged steel gate valves
The following aspects should be paid attention to:
① Before installing the flanged forged steel gate valve, check the inner cavity and sealing surface of the valve, and there should be no dirt or sand.
② Check the bolts of each connection part of the flange forged steel gate valve, and they should be tightened well.
③ Check that the packing part is required to be compacted, not only to ensure the sealing of the packing, but also to ensure the flexible opening of the wedge.
④ Before installing the valve, the user must check the valve model, connection size and pay attention to the flow direction of the medium to ensure consistency with the requirements for the valve.
⑤ When the user installs the forged steel gate valve, the necessary space for the valve drive must be reserved.
⑥ The wiring of the driving device must be carried out according to the circuit diagram.
⑦ The gate valve must be maintained regularly, and it must not be bumped and squeezed so as not to affect the sealing.
